The Young Music Scholarship Foundation 11 th Dinner Party Picture News





The Young Musical Scholars Foundation held a very successful Spring Fundraiser evening.

The Scholarship to Shih Kai Lin of Taiwan for $16,500 was presented by Ambassador Jaushieh Joseph Wu, of Taiwan. Presentation of the Scholarship of $10,000 to Kinga Natalia Augustyn of Poland was made by Mr. Piotr Erenfeicht , Cultural Attache, the Embassy of Poland.

Scholarships of $500 each were presented to three Montgomery College School of Music Students: Juhi Park, Javier Godinez and Kevin Layer by our Honorary Chairman, Mr. Thomas Shaffer

All of the scholarship winners performed. The music performances by these talented young musicians was enjoyed by the guests.

Awards for their support of the Foundation were presented to Ambassador Jaushieh Joseph Wu and Mrs. Ruyuh Caroline Su Wu, Mrs. Shahin Mafi Massali and Minnie Fu, Esq.

Citations from U.S. Representative Chris Van Hollen were presented to Ambassador Jaushieh Joseph Wu and Mrs. Ruyuh Caroline Su Wu, Minnie Fu, Shahin Mafi Massali and to Sandy Taylor.

Artist Awards were presented by Dr. Deborah Preston, Chair of the Scholarship Committee, to Dr. Christopher Shih and Mrs. Stephanie Kung Stryker.

The Foundation wishes to thank the following Embassies for their support of our Fundraiser:

Embassy of Barbados, Embassy of Bulgaria, Embassy of Chile, Embassy of Czech Republic, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Embassy of the Republic of Nicaragua, Embassy of Poland, Embassy of Romania and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office.

Music is a universal language and it was inspiring for the Foundation members see these young dedicated scholars challenging a very competitive field to achieve their goal. We are proud to support them and we hope they will have a promising future.
